Engine surging
I just recently replaced the transmission and motor in my 1998 Honda Accord 2.3l. Needless to say the shop did a crap job and alot of the parts didn't get replaced on the new motor. So I'm dealing with alot of sensor issues. I've got a surging issue going on. It only happens in park and neutral. Also it idles high, a little over 1000 rpms. Tried to adjust but don't seem to be working. Doesn't seem like the VTEC is wanting to kick in either. Anyone have any ideas??

Speed sensor working?
Map sensor connected properly?
O2 sensors connected?
Hook up a cheap OBD 2 scanner and see what it tells you, not just codes, but in terms of the live data. Might help you narrow it down

Yeah the speed sensor, map sensor, and O2 sensors are all plugged in. I have a scanner so I'll try the live data. All I've done so far is pull the code. P0505 is the code I'm getting, when I've researched the code it says its the iac valve needing replaced or possibly a vacuum leak. But yeah I'll try the live data and see what it tells me first.
Yeah I think I'll give that a try this weekend. Been reading alot of stuff on it and that seems to be what it always goes back to. The IAC sits in a horrible spot. Do you know if it's easier to take off the throttle plate first? It seems like it would be, just didn't know if it's be opening up another issue by doing so.
