I have an EM1 with it's original B16A2. I like to believe it has not been messed with in any way. Thats what I thought at first The car has been experiencing some ignition problems, so I tried narrowing down possible causes.
I ordered from Honda, a brand new distributor cap, distributor rotor, and the dust cover that sits behind the rotor. All part numbers are correct for B16A2.
Dust cover slid on fine. Fitted the rotor and the screw that holds it in place, which are both brand new. Then comes the distributor cap... No such luck, as the bolt holes don't line up with the actual distributor. I just reused the old cap. I'm guessing the distributor isn't original to the engine
Everything's bolted up and I go to start the engine. It fired up ridiculously quick. You barely get to hear that B series starter sound. Car idles fine, but I haven't driven it yet. Then the unfortunate happens... Engine light and SRS light
The only thing that has been replaced is the rotor itself. I doubt the dust cover or brand new screw will set off the engine light. Anybody any ideas?
Re: Engine light on after replacing distributor rotor
Check the codes as mentioned that will pin point the issue.
Remove the cap and rotor and see if you knocked any of the 3 ICM wires loose..
SRS is for the air bag system. The SRS light can be cleared and re set there is a simple procedure to do it. But first check that code its possible its from something unrelated to the recent work done.
