D16 stamp on 1998 Civic block
I have a 98 Civic LX auto that has developed a few small oil leaks, so I ordered a complete gasket kit awhile back to freshen it up. I’ve had the oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, and distributor o-ring all replaced within the past 2 years, but the leaks have only gotten worse as nothing seems to stay dry on this engine.
I’ve always assumed a previous owner put a junkyard engine in the car because it has “D16A 4WD MT” scribbled on the valve cover. I’ve seen pics online of people with actual D16Y7 stamps on their block, but mine only shows “D16” with nothing after it.
The parts kit I ordered was of course for the original Y7 that comes with a new timing belt, tensioner, water pump, head gasket, front and rear main seals etc etc. I just want to know if all of these parts and gaskets will work properly on the D16 block without any problems. What cars would have even came with a plain D16, let alone a supposed 4WD manual trans car?
