What ECT2 and/or ECT1 temp turns on radiator fan?
Greetings all - I've scoured TSXclub, Acurazine, here, YouTube, etc... I rarely post questions anywhere, usually the answers are out there. Not this one! Hoping you can help!
Main question is "What ECT2 and/or ECT1 temp should turn on the radiator fan?"
2006 Acura TSX, overheated, pulled over very quickly & towed. Radiator fan motor was bad. Now replaced and working! Back on the road but I think something else needs fixing.
Also replaced radiator cap with Motorad, ECT2 with Carquest Premium from Advance (bottom of radiator - it's a temp sensor in 2006, not a switch like earlier years), thermostat with Aisin, and 3 relays (radiator fan, ac condenser fan, ac compressor clutch) with Omron.
Idling from cold, watching data on HDS, when ECT1 reaches 190F or so, thermostat opens and ECT2 heats up, as expected. Upper and lower hoses get hot to the touch. So far so good.
But idling longer, radiator fan does not turn on. ECT1 reached 217.4 and ECT2 reached 190.4 before I got nervous, shut the car off and let it cool. That's really high for the radiator fan not to turn on, right?
When AC is on, radiator fan and AC fan turn on... so we've been keeping the AC on, and engine stays cool of course.
But I'm worried about it without AC on....
Haven't replaced ECT1 in the engine (I have a lot of the car's service records, I think it's original), but have one from Beck/Arnley. Also have another ECT2 from Beck/Arnley, not installed yet. Any thoughts on whether those could help? Or what would you suggest?
Many thanks for your advice!

Hey I just now saw this, my apologies... I'm probably too late but hopefully you got it sorted! In case it might be useful to someone, the short answer is I replaced the ECT1 with a Beck/Arnley, removed the Carquest ECT2 from Advance, put in an ECT2 from Beck/Arnley, refilled coolant, burped the system, and after that it behaved. Radiator cooling fan came on when ECT2 read 203F, at which point ECT1 was about 212F. Still drive the car often!
