Default Running Rich

I bought a 97 civic lx that some one did a engine swap in. The engine is a 93-95 D16Z6 with a newer 97-99 intake manifold and a 97 manual tranny. The ECM is for a 97 manual and the wiring harness. The car starts and runs, but it runs really rich. I put a different harness in it because the other one was hacked together. I don't know if their are any wires that need to be spliced together or eliminated. The only ones I did were the two for the crank sensor. Any help would be appreciated.

You should be using a P28 ECU for that engine.

Hang on. The ecu - it's from a 97 manual what? Is it a P2E or P2P? What harness did you put in with the replacement engine?

I didn't do the replacement, I bought the car that way. The ecu is a P2E-A02. The car drives fine it just runs really rich

Perhaps in part because the ecu is calibrated to 190cc injectors and the engine has 240cc, about 25% larger.

You need a 96-98 P2P ecu. It will plug in and should run the car reasonably.

Not necessarily THE problem, but it’s A problem.
