Default P0420 1998 civic lx help!

Just realized I bought a catalytic converter that is not CA compliant, which is why I think I’m getting code p0420. I don’t have the budget to buy a new converter and I can’t return the one I bought because it’s been over the 30 day return period. Any tricks to not have the code be thrown up anymore while still running the same converter? I’ve heard the o2 sensor extender trick but I don’t want to spend money that I don’t have to since my budget for this car is only $150 left. Or should I just try my luck with finding one that’s not cracked at the junkyard?

Thank you

I heard the spark plug non fouler trick is only a temporary fix. Seen many posts saying their CEL came back on after 3-10k miles after doing this trick and I’m worried it’ll happen to me too.

you wont find a cat at the junk yard since it is illegal to sell used converters.

even if you did find someone sellnig a used cat converter....im pretty sure 150.00 isnt gunna cut it.
