Going to VIR soon, brake pad, prop valve questions
So I just got my em1 front and rear disc swap on my 1992 dx hatch. I normally run Carbotech Xp10 front Xp8 rear for pads on my Miata and my CRX. Felt good , no issues. This time I’m thinking of doing DTC-60 front and best ceramic “normal” pads for the rear. The big “but” here is, because this dx had drums in the rear, what will the stock proportioning valve do with this pad setup? Don’t think I’ll have time to install, let alone find the 4040 prop valve I hear that I need. Should I get pads with more bite in the rear like DTC-60 or DTC-70? All my other cars had rear discs. Don’t wanna go all the way to VIR from South Tx and run into brake issues on this new project. All help is appreciated. Edit::: I did replace the old leaking MC with a ‘91 EX master. Also replaced the brake booster because the pedal still had too much free play after replacing MC. Now pedal is nice and firm. I just drove it a couple miles home from my buddies shop but not braking hard with old pads thrown in there.

Re: Going to VIR soon, brake pad, prop valve questions
DTC-60's are perfectly fine for VIR for most of us. I'm running a GSR with legend calipers up front w/ the Mini cooper rotors. I run DTC-60's on the front in the race group, and HP+ in the rear.
If you can't find a prop valve, what about a master cylinder from a similar model / trim level that had 4 wheel disks? Sorry I can't tell you what donor might make the most sense there. I don't have too much time w/ Hondas.
If you're going at a NASA weekend, give me and Kaan a shout in the paddock.

This is where i will 100% peacefully disagree with @Sleepy_Steve on DTC-60s and VIR.
DTC-60s will destroy rotors AND if you dont bend them in correctly, you'll likely need rotors on your second day. And VIR, when driven in anger, only has two HARD braking zones.. maybe 3 if you dont trail brake well in oak tree... DTC-60 will still quickly spider and crack your rotors. They arent useful on any track, ever. They are garbage that shouldnt be put on any car.
All that being said... your rear brakes arent going to do anything anyway. My EM1 didnt burn down a set of pads or rotors in the rear... in 2.5 years. when you go to bed the front brakes in you will know if you have enough stopping power up front. This thread actually says you dont need to even worry about it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...-them-1446096/
