So I have a 1998 ek coupe and put a d15z6 motor on it car cranks but won’t start! I sprayed a little bit of starting fluid and it speeds up the crank but won’t start. I did the timing it’s on point
what could it possibly be.
i do have a p28 ecu with a jumper harness.
im new to this page so all the help possible very much appreciated.

 

check for spark and fuel

 

check for spark at the wires and also inspect the components inside the distributor if no spark found at wires. Also I have seen a lot of faults with jumper harness setups and experienced them as well before.

 

I got spark and fuel is getting to the injectors but just cranks won’t turn on

 

What fuel rail are you using ?

A y8 fuel rail i believe

 

It’s right on. Just cranks but won’t start.

Make sure that you have spark. Also, after trying to crank the engine a few times, immediately check the spark plugs and see if they are wet. Just because you have fuel getting to the rail doesn't mean that it is getting into the engine. Since the engine doesn't run on starting fluid... it is likely that your problem is a lack of spark and not fuel related.

 

So my spark plugs are wet I have gave spark, I tried starting it after I chained the coil on my distributor and all it did was just a loud pop, I crank it it turns but won’t crank.

 

Check to make sure you have the firing order correct on the spark plug wires. If you have them mixed up on the distributor cap it can cause the symptoms you're describing. I once bought a non-running D16Z6 for $300 and when I worked on it, it just ended up being mixed up spark plug wires on the cap.
