Just bought a used 2000 civic EX sedan, a list of questions for you fine gentlemen.
Hi everyone, I just signed up. I recently bought a used Civic EX with 136K miles on it for $3500 and it has some issues I want to address quickly.
1. The person who sold it I guess changed the starter and now it has two separate keys to open the door and to start the car. I plan on programming a key fob (which didn't come with, but I've done it before) but the key thing is annoying.
So first question is (and thank anyone who responds in advance!) what is the cheapest way to get back down to a single key? Obviously I will need to change the ignition/starter and car door locks but do junkyards sometimes have the keys for both the locks and ignition?
2. SMOKERS CAR, I've already done a bunch of detailing research but I think i'm just going to pay someone who has access to a nice extractor, ozone generator etc. The real issue here is the head liner, which most dealers won't touch and honestly it just needs to be replaced anyhow.
I found a cheap option here for replacement here https://www.moonautotops.com/shop/he...00-honda-civic I'm just wondering how much of a PITA it's going to be, also thoughts on this site and their price/offerings?
3. A couple of the window regulators needs to be replaced, I can do this myself, but does anyone know if the front and passenger regulators are the same for the backseat in a sedan?
4. It's going to suck going back to not having a backup camera, suggestions on products and best way and location to run the wire?
I really appreciate any help this community can offer me on the above. I sure do miss the days when most of the interaction on the internet was forums like this.

No experience myself, but I would check with a locksmith about getting the doors re-keyed to match the ignition switch lock cylinder.
Headliner material is available at most fabric stores too, maybe for a better price. I have been considering recovering mine to freshen it up.
Each of the four doors has a specific part number for the regulator. Front and rear are different designs and left is mirror image of right so not interchangeable.
Relative to most modern vehicles that come with back up cameras, a 2000 Civic sedan is small with outstanding visibility all around. But adding one wouldn't be so hard. I would run the cable through the center console, to the rear seat cushion, then to one side or the other and into the trunk. It could also go along the roofline while you have your headliner out.

Regarding the keys, you can disassemble the lock and replace/rearrange the wafers to get the right keying. They can also cut you a fresh oem key from your VIN while you're there.
Two ways to go about this.
1) Go to the dealer, provide your VIN and proof of ownership. They can give you the 'code' for the wafer arrangement.
2) Take apart one of the door cylinders, record the wafer arrangement.
You'll need to either get a handful of locks from the junkyard (hard cheap mode) or figure out what wafers you need and order them from the dealer (easy expensive mode). Then just take apart your ignition switch and re-wafer it to match your door locks/VIN.
There's quite a few videos and guides out and about.
