Default engine serial numbers

are the starters and solenoids the same on all B16A engines? ...

I'm going to order a starter on ebay and need to know before I buy because the previous owner told me that my 95 del sol has an 89, JDM DOHC 1.6. I was trying to verify this information. the number below "B16A" on my block is 5504696. does this contain a date code? if not how to I determine the date my engine was manufactured?

THANKS....

If the block has only "B16A" without a following number, it would be a first gen B16.. You can also look at the front of the cylinder head - starting just above top left exh mani stud, the first left circle stamp you will notice that it has either e.g. (8/9) or (9/0) or (9/1) which year it is..
