Honda Accord 2001 H22A Swap Engine Rev Surge
This is a brief overview of the situation that I am currently in:
Hey, I bought a Honda Accord 2001 Coupe that has been swapped with a H22A from a Prelude. I bought is as my first car, because I really wanted to get a sporty coupe. I saw that the car was being sold and I went to check it out and bought it with winter tires (the ones that are currently on) and summer tires. I drove back home and everything was okay, considering that it was around 130 km. Everything was smooth until the next day, I was going to drive to school with it and I was confused, because when I started the engine, the RPMs jumped to 2K instantly. It was 7 a.m. and I thought that it was normal, because the engine was warming up. It came down to 1.1/1K and everything was smooth. The next day, when I started the engine, it was basically rough idling. Even if the engine was warm enough, it was still staying at 2K RPM. Not only that, but when I started driving around, I saw that it was constantly staying at 2K RPM. We tried hooking it up to Autocom with one of my friends, but we weren't able to. Then it started going to 3K RPM while also surging up and down. On top of that, I think that sometimes the engine misfires (not really sure, if that's the correct term for it), because while it's maintaining 2k or 3K RPM it just drops down to 1K and goes back up again. I went to a repair shop and he said that he is not really sure and that I should get it hooked to a diagnostic and check with sensor might be doing it. I went to a guy that does diagnostic and he wasn't able to hook it up either. I asked the previous owner and she said that her mechanics couldn't do it too. My point is, what can be causing the car not to show up on diagnostic and how to fix it, and possibly if I make a thread in the Prelude section. I generally need advice, because I am confused. I am not really sure if the guys that swapped the engine did anything to the ECU. And yes, I know that I might have bought an actual dumpster of a car, but I developed interest in cars in the past months and I am willing to spend all my free time working on my car.
Thank you in advance.
