Intermitten Wiper Controls not working (HELP)
Hello,
I currently own a 1994 Honda Civic Si.
I have inspected all of the fuses everywhere on the vehicle:
-Under Dash
-Engine bay area
All of the fuses are perfect and working as intended.
I also replaced the following items:
-ICU (Integrated Control Unit) from another used Civic Si. (Used)
-Steering Wheel Wiper Controls (Brand New)
-Wiper Motor Assembly (Brand New)
All the functions on the windshield and rear wiper work minus the intermittent function.
Can anyone provide ant further insight?

- Wiper relay: The intermittent wiper function is often controlled by a separate relay. It's possible that the relay responsible for the intermittent function is faulty. Locate the wiper relay (usually found in the fuse box under the hood or in the cabin) and try replacing it with a new one.
- Wiring issues: Inspect the wiring connections between the wiper switch, relay, and motor. Look for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Ensure that all the connectors are properly seated and that the wiring is in good condition.
- Faulty wiper switch: Although you mentioned that you've replaced the steering wheel wiper controls, it's still possible that the replacement part itself might be faulty. If you can, try testing the wiper switch using a multimeter or swap it with a known good unit to confirm its functionality.
- Faulty ICU: Since you've replaced the ICU with a used unit, there's a chance that the replacement unit may also be defective. If you have access to another known good ICU, try swapping it to see if the issue is resolved.
Thank you!
at the moment I am the only person I know with this type of car. This is my third wiper switch and second motor. I opened up my ICU and inspected for burned components and I found none. I know that it could still be a bad component even if they show no signs…
I also inspected the wires for damage and bad grounds… I still can’t seem to locate the issue.
I suppose my only option is to find some that has that option working on their car and swap a few components…
I was hoping there was something I overlooked. So far i have done everything you’ve suggested. I also value and thank you for your input. I need an experienced electrician in NYC whom can further investigate at this point.
