Ya'll just sit down and cop a squat and we'll get this started.
My name is Joe and I live in north Florida. I work as mechanic/welder,am 62 yrs old and about to retire and go all around Florida fishing. I have a 1988 Honda Civic LX.
My user name may seem alittle strange, it should be"Redneck adventures" but not enuff characters for that so here we are. I plan on videoing my fishing trips around Florida and putting them on youtube using Redneck Adventures as my channel name.
My Civic was given to me by a friend of mine who said "if you can get it started you can have it." That was right at 5 yrs ago, lol. It took a new distributor, but I got it going. Have done some minor repairs thru the yrs and about 3-4 months ago I replaced pistons, rings, bearing, seals, oil pump and clutch. Also new front upper control arm, lower ball joint and inner/outer tie rods. I used this site and others to get thru it. thanks. Didn't think to video the adventure but did take a few pics. This is me. This and following are from rebuild. Now for the paint job,and yes, this is same car.
Now that you have seen these pics let me just let you know from the start that I am a practical mechanic/person. I believe in function over form,it ain't got to look good to run good. Drivetrain 1st then eye candy. Eye candy don't get ya home.
So I can't be shamed for how things look or how I do things. If it works, it works that is the important thing.
Ok, I guess I have wasted enuff of your time, so ya'll have a good day and I'll type at ya later.
Nice to meet ya Joe. I am a Florida redneck myself, born in Orlando and grew up in St. Cloud. I have been a professional mechanic most of my life. ASE master tech. I have had so many Honda's over the years, great cars. My current ride is a 1993 Civic with a hybrid Y7 bottom half and D16Z6 top half. 5 speed manual. I used to frequent High Springs and the Itchitucknee river every summer, but I moved to Texas in 2013. Still have friends in Ocala area. Next time I am down there if I see your hot rod Honda I will say howdy. Always stop at Sonny's in Gainesville on my way through..
