First post guys. Need help.
Hi honda peels
First post so i apologies if im posting in the wrong place.
So as it goes im a petrolhead and been into cars ans projects for as long as i can remember. But iv always been into my germans. Just recently come onto the jap scene.
I have bought my first honda.
Its a honda civic ek4 VTIS. Apparently 1 of 200.
Anyways its got a b16a2 lump. When i bought it the chap told me he had recently put a second hand distributor out of his civic eg.
2 weeks in and the dizzy has given in. (probz due to our wonderful majestic weather.
I have taken the dizzy of and order 2 different caps from two different places and both are short a few mm so it got me thinking this probz aint the orginal dizzy.
The dizzy is D3179 TD68U.
Now im confused whether this is whats suppose to be there or not.
My 2nd question is wether i should get a complete dozzy or try another cap. Also if i get another dizzy where shall i get it from.

Ashar - welcome. If your distributor is OEM Honda, don't get rid of it! Try to find the correct cap and rotor for it first. If that' doesn't fix it, you can replace the coil and igniter inside the distributor, if either of those are bad. The OEM sensors rarely go bad, and are MUCH better quality than the aftermarket distributors.
I'm not sure on your question of which distributor is correct for your car.

If you do happen to replace your distributor, and if your running obd1, you would use either a td68u or a td44u. If your obd2 I think it's the td84u distributor. The caps between the td68 and td44 are different from one another but both dizzy will work. Like DaX mentioned, always keep your distributors for back up parts especially if it's an oem unit.
I am not a fan of this brand but Cardone does make decent new distributors if your looking around. Don't go for something remanufactured or some cheap unit.
