Default OEM Air Intake Tube Question

On a 99-00 Civic SI OEM ruber air tube that connects to the stock TB is 62mm ID, wasnt there a OEM tube for the Civic 99 Type-R (i believe) that is wider and could fit into 70 or 72mm TB? I believe I saw it somewhere?

The reason I ask is because I am reverting back to the OEM filter box but I would like to still maintain my 70mm TB without modifications so I was wondering if there is a OEM replacement that is bigger for that rubber air tube that connects the TB to the air box.

The CTR inlet pipe was larger than the '99-00 CIvic Si (EM1) pipe, but it is still not large enough to fit over a 70+mm throttle body. The OE CTR throttle body is only 64mm.

Won't fit, even a stock Type R intake arm won't fit a 70mm TB.

It will be completely useless to use a bigger 70mm TB with a stock intake and air box. You won't see or gain anything. So, you may as well go back to using a stock size TB.

Unless you try using a reducer coupler and try a piece of piping in between the coupler and stock arm to hold it together... IDK just a funky idea

I do have a Sk2 Pro Intake and a 70mm TB so the idea was to keep using it but get ride of the PWJDM Power Chamber, I want the looks of the oem box back again for some reason

I learned when I tried to do the same thing that there is a lot of misinformation out there on this topic. You can literally take a stock throttle body and slide it into the opening of an Sk2 alpha 70mm. The stock intake tube IS NOT going to slide over that without damaging it somehow, if at all. I tried.

The good news is that you likely don't need a 70mm throttle body on your setup. The 60/62/64mm throttle bodies are just about dead nuts perfect size for any reasonable NA power levels these engines make. Not surprisingly, the original designers did their math correctly.

You also have options for overboring a stock throttle body a little bit, if you really want to.

I've had an RC in the past and it was well done. Maxbore's work also has a good reputation.

There's only a couple of mm of extra diameter to play with, but you get about double your money back in actual area gained. So what seems like a small change in throttle diameter is actually quite significant.

Go with a Comptech Ice box! You can most likely fabricate or buy a cheap 3'' short ram intake tube from ebay to fit! Or drop down to a smaller TB and use the OEM ITR intake tube for a real clean look that's functional, you can try a Samco hose as well.

I had this intake years ago! loved it! carb legal and wont ingest water!
