HID or LED Retrofit for EG?
I am wanting to upgrade the headlights in my EG hatch.
For a long time I thought I would go HID.
But now it seems like LED retrofits have been evolving.
Are they a better choice?
Would I have an easier time retrofitting LEDs vs HIDs?
I am thinking of opening up some smooth glass reflector housings and retrofitting, not ordering a bulb off Amazon and sticking it in and wondering why my lighting did not improve...

I just ordered ProTuningLab HID headlights for my build, hoping they're better than the eBay head/tail lights I keep seeing and going through. I'll only be using one headlight though lol, since I have the 3D printed intake one for the passenger side.
And funny enough, the 3D printed headlight does use an LED bulb. So I'll have one light with an LED bulb and another with HID, we'll see how that looks. I don't plan on driving the car very often at night so meh.

Well, I can confirm that the ProTuningLab lights use the same housings as what you get with most eBay headlights. All that "Dynamik" "Spec-D" ****.
I'll be going over the obvious gaps around the edges with some silicone myself. They'll still look pretty decent once installed.

Taiwan - do you know if these are for LHD countries?
The product image is identical to what they have for the Spec-D Tuning black headlights, looking at this closer I'm not sure if they just took those Spec-D housings and modified them for the HIDs.
Meh, whatever.
Are the denji lamps making a come back?! I took an OG set out of my SI about two decades ago and put them on the shelf for some OEM lamps. Those PIAA Xtreme white H1 bulbs that lasted about 2 hours.
That's pretty funny. I thought they were borderline rice.

I've never liked how they look.

How do you like the light output?
Are you in a LHD market?
I'm still working on my car as a whole, so can't attest to the light output. I ordered with the "HID relay harness" option, which I have a feeling may be what they're using to refer to the ballast. Mine did come with the ballast, I had that box checked (HID relay).
IDK if I used the right word when I said ballast. Is it ignitors the HID needs?
The picture shows boxes, but the description does not include ballast or ignitors:

Otherwise I'd just email them to ask what's included.
I'm not honestly super well versed with all that goes on with HID lights, this will be my first time running them - That's part of why I just bought the whole "kit" or whatever from them, just to ensure I had everything that was needed.
Otherwise I'd just email them to ask what's included.

The more I look at their image, I think it might just be that they are putting a HID insert into a clear lens headlight housing.
My limited knowledge on this makes me think it needs to be a projector housing, inside a headlight housing in order for the HID to be effective.
Does that make sense?
Would you be willing to post a pic of what you got from them?
I wrote Denji using the emails on their website. They said they can equip their housing w/ an HID bulb, but they won't answer me about if they are legit for a LHD/drive on right side of road market.
Also no answer about if it is a projector in the housing, or just an HID bulb in a EG housing.
If they ain't sayin', I ain't buyin'...

All the ones made by Dynamik or even the ones I bought have far from perfect castings and housings.

While it might work, and you’ll probably not get a ticket these days, you’ll probably still want to do a retrofit with those housings for the ultimate output.
And if you’re going to spend the money to do that, you might as well just do a bi-xenon retrofit from Morimoto in some clear lens housings.
