I have a 1991 Honda Accord LX 2dr Coupe. The interior is in super great shape. But the headliner is cracked all over. Car also needs paint.

But if I fix headliner and paint not only do I injoy nicer looking car, but it will be worth way more then I will have into it per Nada ( NADA: Consumer Vehicle Values https://www.nada.org/nada/consumer-vehicle-values).

So I can just fix it to stock look or for a little less I can do the headliner with a Japanese flag.

But I'm not sure if that is a nice fun idea or really stupid value/resell wise.

I'm not leaning in any directions, so I thought I would ask for ideas/thoughts from you folks. I'm open to other ways to go.

Japanese flag huh? Custom, not precisely what I'd do but cool nonetheless. So it sounds like you know you want to fix the headliner and are fairly set on the Japanese flag but that your concerned it might hurt resell value.

• If you do the flag headliner, your either going to have to lose some money at the time of sale because the person buying dislikes it (They may want the car but will offer less with the intent on changing it themselves or just buying and living with it) or will just have a harder time selling it because people who come to look or who see pictures learn about the headliner and then either leave or don't come due to disliking it.
• With that said, it comes down to what you plan to do with the car, how long do you plan to drive it? How much money do you currently have in the car? Would you be willing to take less money when you do sell due to the headliner? Would you consider reverting or changing the headliner to stock or something that isn't the flag when/if selling the car?
• Don't be afraid to have a "weird" or "personal" custom touch when it comes to your car, I don't even know if that the right thing to tell you BUT, just don't worry about it.
• It looks like you know what your doing and what you want, I mean whats next???

 

I did mine with a plaid black/white fabric using 3M spray adhesive years ago. It's held up great over the years.
