EXCELLENT... THANKS....
for the record... I don't use Harley oil in my Superglide either. 55K miles and it runs great, well except for the faulty design camchain tensioners but that's for another forum.

I would think 10-30 is too thick and 10-40 is too thin of an oil to use.. years back I had tried a few types but never worked right for the honda tranny just caused grinding gears or rough shifts, always ended back using Honda MTF which personally is "the best" to use..
Why would you not just spend $20 and be worry free for a few years instead?

But seriously, Honda MTF. Can't go wrong. The motor oil was a very old spec back when oil was SG rated before MTF was a thing. Then MFT arrived and Honda changed the guidance to use MTF and only motor oil in an emergency and now the guidance is MTF only.
Keeping in mind modern SN rated oils have almost zero of the high pressure lubricants of yesterday. Protecting the cats and environment or something.

I used 10W-30 in my daily driver's transmission for years and it was OK. The current guidance is to use MTF - it should help synchros last longer and may resist breaking down better at elevated temps. I've used Honda MTF in my race car for a few years, but recently switched to Torco RTF.
I'm going with 10w40 . it's got to be better than what's in it after 150K miles. i MIGHT mix-in some Lucas trans-oil. I used that in my super-high milage T5 trans that I installed in my 62 C20. I drove it loaded beyond the max from TexAss to SW Florida without problems.
