Trying to get my brother's LS vtec EK up and going. Tried starting it and we're getting compression coming back through the intake. It popped a couple times and seems like it wants to run. Compression is good on all 4 but a little slower to build on 3&4. Fresh rebuilt head (by a so called professional...).on a forged bottom end. Timing seems dead on, but I've never used aftermarket cam gears. Something is fishy and i cant figure out what. If the crank was 180 off i don't think it would make compression? We're kinda at a loss.
Re: LS Vtec swap blowing compression out the intake?
Ok, Well it seems I dont know how aftermarket cam gears work. For the record, the circle timing marks on aem cam gears are supposed to face up. so from this picture the exhaust cam got rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise and the intake cam got rotated 90 degrees clockwise. Fired right up
