B20b4 into a 98 ex 2dr EJ8
Need help with brackets, wiring, ecu’s, dizzys, Trannys, and ease of swap.
It’s a stock manual 98 EJ8 and I’m just wondering what I’ll need both to do and have.

Here is a good start...

There are "Stickies" at the top of this sub-forum that are quite helpful and answer most, if not all, of the questions that you are asking. After fully reviewing these, come back here and ask SPECIFIC questions pertaining to your swap that you are still unclear on. What you have asked so far is WAY too general for us to effectively help you.

- Wiring - New is far and away the best but I'm not sure if anyone is making anything off-the-shelf with full OBD2 compatibility, if that's what you are looking for. a '98 CR-V manual harness will plug directly into your car and everything will work and fit 100%, but may be hard to find. If you need to do emissions or run OBD2 for any reason, the next best will be to modify the Y8 harness you already have. Won't take much. If you have no need/intention to emissions test, do yourself a huge favor and get a brand new budget engine harness that plugs directly into an OBD1 ecu and an OBD2A car.
- ECU - If emissions testing is required, you'll need a '98 manual CR-V ecu (37820-P3F-A01 or L01) or a 96-99 Integra manual ecu (37820-P75-Axx) with the immobilizer defeated (easy). If not emissions testing, see above and use an OBD1 ecu with Hondata/etc.. Save a few bucks and get a P06 since you don't need vtec hardware (it can be added later anyway).
- Jumper harness - Worth its own bullet point. Avoid them whenever possible. They all suck, even the good ones.
- Distributor - The one on the B20 will work fine.
- Transmission - GS-R is the best option for this engine, in my opinion. Any FWD hydraulic clutched b-series trans will work. You'll need a linkage clutch, and flywheel as your new engine is likely from an automatic car.
- Intake manifold - 96+ Integra LS or aftermarket will be neecessary.
- Exhaust manifold - Any B18 header will work. You'll need a test pipe or modify your stock catalyst. Any muffler shop should be able to do this easily.
- If you don't get an alternator with the swap, you'll need a b-series alternator. There are ways to adapt the D alternator, ultimately it's easier just to go get a reman'd B-series one and return your current one as the core.
This is the easiest, most straightforward swap you'll ever do. 100% bolt-in.
So rn I’m looking at a Acura RS 97 MT b18b1 trans and wondering if it’ll fit.

Yes.
Any hydraulic clutched FWD trans will work.
The LS/RS/GS gearing is kind of a drag though, honestly. If you can’t find a decent GS-R trans, swapping the 4.4 final drive into the LS trans is a huge/cheap upgrade.

Yes, it works just fine. The combustion chamber size is slightly smaller, and thus, will increase compression slightly, but otherwise... very similar to the original.

Hello once again I seek wisdom, looking for a b18c1 head for my b20b4 build and can’t find diddly squat. Any ideas? I’m in the Mississippi area. I’m willing to piece together parts but just can’t find a head. Thanks!
