Cannot figure out why the speedometer doesn’t work after days of attempts. Odometer works, as do all other gauges. Bought a replacement gauge cluster, still no speedometer. Odb reader displays mph. No CELs being thrown. Cruise control light doesn’t work as well. Blue/white wire on speedometer will change voltage with movement. It mostly goes something like .17 volts then to 4.75v and back again while going forward in driveway. Power is at 12v, ground has continuity. I can not see any shorted wires behind dash after removing much of the tape. Plug looks fine on VSS and apparently it’s reporting to the ecu. Could the cruise control unit be causing the speedometer not to work? One last thing, I took it out for a quick drive and of the blue, the speedometer worked and the cruise light lit up. Of course it went out upon turning in the driveway. Everything says it the speedometer needing replacement. It obviously isn’t that. Or the VSS plug is the problem. No CEL and it reports on obd scanner. Does anyone have any idea where and what the problem could be???

 

Try another VSS and see what happens.

 

Going to change the plug on the vss first. I’m thinking it’s not likely the vss due to getting accurate speed readings from my code reader.
