The plug is fine and everything is connected. all warning lights et work but the gauge cluster is dark. could this be a faulty dimmer switch?

BTW: I ALMOST have this car on-the-road! I was hating on it really hard but now like it again.

Check your underdash fuse box fuse 19 it’s a 10a

 

mine did the same, I had to clean the connector to the speedometer, not a major pia, but a pia
As for hating on the car. My daily is the reason Im on this board. 1995 civic lx 5sp 425k miles. I hate that car. it is such a mundane automobile. It has no performance. The interior is boring, the exterior is sickening, The paint looks like it was painted with a spray can of feces and puke . It is your basic mid 1990s bubble/balloon car BUUUTTT with all that being said, Im getting 50mpg highway,42 city. I love that car when gas is 3.15 a gallon.
You will learn that honda is an odd duck. If you leave the car alone, no modifications, the dang thing will run forever with minimal repairs, tho the repairs you will do will be odd repairs

 

If the fuse is good, the dimmer might be bad. Just take it off, unplug it and jump the red wire to the black for full brightness. If you are as unlucky as me, and that still doesnt work, you may have to take the cluster out and inspect the little lightbulbs.

 

well, my car is super beautiful and many of the problems I'm having are self-inflicted. I had a 93 that gave me no problems what so ever. Put a paint-job on it and you'll like it again. I'll upload a pic of mine that I painted BRIGHT white. I added mud-flaps and that made a huge difference. The car is a stunner....

 

yes, fuse is good, that was the first thing I checked. I thought about hot-wiring the dimmer switch too.... I'll take the dash out again which will be easy since all the plastic connectors have corroded and I can't screw it into place anymore. THANKS
