1997 Accord LX No-Start
Hi all! I could have sworn that I was registered on here at some point in the past, but it must have been longer than I thought - so a new beginning and a new first post.
I've got a 1997 Accord LX 2.2l auto sedan, and it won't start. I got it all fixed up and going great so I could move; drove 1100 miles from DSM to ABQ, and a few months later it started sputtering and limped home, and hasn't run since. Ran like a champ all the way up until it didn't.
I have verified 140psi (+/- 2psi) compression in all four cylinders while cranking when cold. I have verified that the fuel pump is working and I have pressure at the rail. I have been over the injectors, injector resistors, PCM-FI, ECU, harnesses, and so on with a multimeter and everything is within spec and reading as expected according to the service manual. I have replaced the spark plugs and verified that all four are sparking. I have swapped in a known-good ECU. I have no DTCs except one for the post-cat O2 sensor. The battery is healthy, all fluids are present and accounted for,
I even drained the fuel tank and filled with fresh gas. Let a couple ounces of the old stuff sit overnight in a glass jar and it separated out to an obvious layer of gasoline on top of a layer of water, so it was definitely bad gas. After that, I replaced the injectors.
But no matter what, it won't start and I can't see any reason why not.
Any suggestions what to check next? What residual effects might I look for due to the bad gas? I'm getting fuel to the rail, so it's not backed up at the filter. I haven't yet pulled the upper timing cover to check the belt, but I would expect at least one cylinder to have no compression or low compression if that was the case. Are those assumptions faulty? Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.
