Default Options for 77 CVCC Civic Carb

My son rescued a 1977 Civic CVCC from the desert here in AZ. Had a hard time getting it even started after he tried to rebuild the carb so we swapped on a Weber 38/38 and got it to run but it was smoking bad so we pulled the motor and rebuilt. Now, the car starts but wont idle. When it does try to idle it is over 1000 RPM. We have played with the jetting and all the other things we can do with float and such, we are at a loss.

What options do we have? I am not against throwing a stock K3 carb on it. My son tossed the vacuum junction that was mounted on the firewall and he says that we need all of that for the K3 to run.

I'm open to any recommendations that you may have for us. Thanks!

The DGV webers really suck on a cvcc, they suck on a 1200 also, They destroy the cvcc system design and the mileage. They also starve out on hard corners because of the float bowl orientation this problem is on both the 1500 cvcc and the 1200. The stock carbs are better for mileage and drivability on a CVCC, IF working correctly. Not a lot of people can rebuild them properly. Throwing the vacuum system away was a mistake. The most popular solution is a d16 swap and getting rid of the cvcc engine all together along with a decent boost in power and improved parts availability. Its some fabrication though.
