'07 DX-G Coupe (Canadian) in Nighthawk Black Pearl - clear coat gone
Hey all ... does anyone else feel gypped and abandoned by Honda on this seemingly widespread paint clear coat issue?
Honda Canada washed their hands of any liability in the matter in my case early into the COVID-19 pandemic ... my initial complaint to Honda Canada had to be conducted via e-mail due to the local corporate Honda facility closure and was delayed until 02JUN20, even though the problem began to manifest itself in one small spot on the roof of the car in the summer following my purchase of this car in January, 2016. It should be noted that my geographical location of Vancouver, B.C., Canada is not a high temperature or high-UV exposure environment.
I think Honda Canada (and Honda U.S.A. / Global, by extension) can afford to address this glaring issue for owners of their products ... an issue of their own creation ... after all, chemical bonding & longevity characteristics of base / clear coatings of automobiles should have been well understood by 2007 ... why did Honda subject their customers to this type of problem regardless? Is it because they expected the life-cycle of their products to be only 10 years? If the latter assumption is true ... to any degree whatsoever, it is seemingly not a very progressive / green / eco-friendly stance for a global car manufacturer to take.

How often do you wax the car ? What have you done to the paint finish to try and reduce damage caused by UV light ? Is the car garage kept or parked outside ?

Correct tech8 ... however, it is a legal precedent that I intend to pursue with a class action effort in English-speaking Canada, or, at least here in B.C.
No reason the same rationale couldn't work in the U.S. ... drumming up awareness and support in the various Honda car forums (I've got recent threads going in two others) is one of the best ways to accomplish that.
Thanks, FFF
