Default 3rd gen prelude TPS calibration voltage is wrong

hello honda community i really would appreciate some insight on this issue. I have a 1991 honda prelude si with a 2.1L B21A1 and manual transmission. The ecu is flashing code 7 for tps. i took the stock tps off by cutting channels into the 2 rivets. i ordered a tps from blox racing and noticed i had to swap the ground and power wires (green and yellow wires) at this point i also changed the actual connector because the wires were too short. with the new connector and TPS on it is reading 0.71v-1.00v at CLOSED throttle and 4.27v at OPEN throttle. i also noticed the voltages fluctuate very much but these numbers are the most consistent. i tested if the connector was getting a proper 5v and it was. i have no more room to turn the TPS to make the closed throttle voltage go down. i also tested two different brands of TPS and same issue. how can i fix this issue so i can properly calibrate my TPS?

^ tps off throttle body reads .71v to signal wire (middle red) when connected to connector

^ power wire gets proper voltage 5v

^ closed throttle tps hooked up to throttle body

^ open throttle tps hooked up to throttle body
please and thank you any assistance is much appreciated.

That is a bad TPS. It should read far LESS than .500v when removed from the throttle body. Try another one.

thanks for the reply. i tried two different brands of tps. they both are china made. any recommendations on what tps i should get there’s plenty of options because it fits most honda vehicles i assume?

I would get a used one off of an OE throttle body in a junkyard over buying some cheap Chinese ****. Just make sure that it angles the same way as what you have... I believe yours angles downward when installed on the throttle body, so find one that angles the same way at the junkyard.

thanks again👍 i’m definitely going to buy a whole used throttle body assembly. i got a tps from autozone just to test a 3rd tps. the autozone one is “made” by dorman and it looks exactly like the $15 chinese one i got from ebay. starting to think all new tps are just made in the same factory in china😂 with different logos. the dorman tps was able to calibrate to .50 at close throttle but at open throttle the highest i was able to calibrate to was 4.35 without changing the closed voltage. so closed position i correct but open is not. going to the junkyard soon

Those values will actually work... the question is how long will it last. Cheap TP sensors typically fail quite rapidly.

throttle response has been way better but I wonder how long that will last. Waiting for the used throttle body to come in. The check engine light is flashing though. wondering if you can help me read the code, it’s confusing me. Thank you so much

From that video, you have TWO codes: (6) ECT sensor and (10) IAT sensor.

so some people told me it’s only one code which is code 16. but i doubt that because after the 1 long blink there’s a long pause before blinking 6 times really fast.

also another member told me it’s codes 1 and 6. for o2 sensor and ECT sensor. is code 1 supposed to be a long blink or a short fast blink?

is code 10 just one long blink?

another member told be the first long blink is the ecu checking in. does that sound correct?
