Default OT: ITR owners I need your help w/decision

-{This was posted in the Lude forum first, hopefully that will clear up the end of the post}-

Ok this is OT, but I need some advice before I put myself in further debt.

the other day my girlfriend starts talking about how she doesn't like her accord and wants a lude...ya know how women are..more more more

But this got me thinking, me me me . (Lightbulb turns on.) What if I give her my lude and get the next best Honda err Acura, a Type R. So, I started looking

A cheap Type R, at least what I can find, is 18k I owe bout 8k on my lude. I would just sign my lude over to her, and trade her 98 Accord in on a Type R, or possibly sell it...

So I end up in further debt, w/a better car IMO, (and on paper) that is already modded quite a bit from the factory. I think the only mods that I would add would be bolt ons, and all suspension parts. The main reason I want a R is they seem to hold their value well due to the rarity of the car. So the odds of me losing money are slim to none.

So, what do you guys think?? R or Lude.

By the time Im done modding the lude (if that day ever comes) it would obviously outperform the R, but obviously would not hold value like the R.

Need help guys give me some advice!!

If this is too OT (glances around for JG or Corey), I don't have a problem moving it. But I trust the luders the most.

Thanks Yall

if the *main reason* why you are considering a type R is its blue book value, then you are completely missing the point of owning this wonderful machine...

even in basic stock form, i'd say R's have a good chance keeping up with modded ludes, maybe even better in certain circumstances.

do some research first. good luck in your choice

you also have to think.. you mentioned its rarity... that also means "other" people also want this car.. or this car's parts.. and would do anything to get them=car getting jacked... the R is a great car... but dont buy it just cuz of its rarity and blue book value

well the performance is obviously the MAIN reason,.

The theft is not too big a concern, because I live in Utah, it is pretty boring and not too many people are into theft...they are to damn religious and my first purchase would have to be an alarm.

I just want to know If the price difference is worth it vs. the performance of the Lude.

do it... you won't regret it...

but you might shop around and see how much you'd get on the accord selling it privately...

What if I give her my lude and get the next best Honda err Acura, a Type R.
The ITR is the 'next best honda/acura' to a prelude? What is going on here?

I'd personally rather have the R, but you sound hung up on resale value and what your girlfriend wants.

Stay on topic? The topic is: should I mod my prelue so it 'obviously' outperforms an R, or get an R because it is the next best honda/acura after the prelude? The topic is asking for another dumb prelude/itr debate.

Personally I wouldn't give my car to a girlfriend. I would sell her the car at a fair price and use the extra money from the sale to put down on the Type R.

Oh, heh sorry guys didn't mean to offend the R owners. I meant the next up on the powerchain, should have worded it differently. I do consider the R a better car than the lude for obvious reasons.

IMO powerchain is like this in honda/acura land

NSX
s2000
ITR
LUDE and GSR are bout even (lude has handling adv. Teg has drag.)

You just did a total 180....

obviously.

Do what YOU want. Ask us when you have some questions with your ITR if you get one. Just don't give it to your girlfriend.

Somone said this on the board before:

"If you have to even think about owning a Integra Type-R. The ca"R" is not for you.
