Default Help Identifying Wires in Cabin

Car is a 93 Si.

Trying to sort out remaining wiring issues and loose ends. I have a Helm's manual I'll spend some time reading through, but wanted to ask here as well in case anyone was familiar with this. This car had a ton of wiring issues and hacks when I picked it up, in many cases I legitimately have no idea what the previous owner was trying to do.

If anyone knows what these wires are, or what they're for, please let me know:
I've only seen my fuel gauge work once, otherwise it's always stuck on full.
My handbrake indicator on the dash has never worked
Cigarette lighter outlet and ashtray light have never worked

White wire by steering wheel under dash. No idea why it's so chewed up, I'd like to try replacing it if possible:

Then these wires that run from somewhere in the back of the car through the carpet, and have all been cut. Part of an old subwoofer/sound system maybe? Not sure if any of it is OEM:

Then this Blue/Red and black plug right under the driver's seat:

Any ideas are appreciated, I may make a couple updates to the thread as I find out more. I'm just starting to look into the wiring on this car again. Always hoped to take it by an electric shop, but I've largely given up on outsourcing work and am trying to figure things out myself.

Dude, you need to state what car man. I suspect it's a 6th gen with provisions for the under the driver seat OEM immobilizer. The wires under the carpet look non OEM so likely the sub/amp wiring added after.

Now the fat wire(s) from the brown plug, that's main ignition wires from the battery, high current wire. That blackened area looks like someone did a crap job reconnecting them and it's burned from the high current levels.

Derp, forgot to mention that... It's a 93 Si, so a 5th gen.

Thank you for the information. Glad to hear those other wires are likely not OEM.

First one appears to be your ignition switch harness. Looks like it was cut for an alarm or remote start install and then hacked back together for an uninstall. Some who do shouldn't, sorry to see that.

Second - no idea. Those are not original wires. Possibly again related to a remote start install and your e-brake light issue, maybe the parking brake intercept for a remote start? Other guesses would be to a kill switch, maybe an external amp control. Hard to guess without knowing where it heads to.

Third appears to be the connector for the seat belt buckled switch on the bottom of the seat. The clip normally attaches it to the bottom of the driver's seat pan, people typically pull it loose like that when yanking out the seat without paying attention.

Thank you very much. I'll see how hard it would be to completely replace that white ignition wire, otherwise I'll just have to wrap it up in electrical tape and pray it keeps working.

Second is also my biggest question mark, I'm just going to have to hunt for a diagram of that area, maybe eventually pull up the carpet to really see what's going on. Bleh.

I think you're right about the third as well, I can't think of anything else that one would be for. I've never had the seat out in this car, I hope the other end of the clip is still there...

The only wire that runs along the tunnel past the shifter is the single one to the switch on the ebrake. There's nothing else back there to wire up, unless something got added along the way.
