Default 1997 Honda civic electrical issue

ok so I rarely go through the motions of asking for help. but I have researched and tested so many things pertaining to the issue I am having with my 1997 Honda Civic LX.

after getting my old honda back on the road of course another issue came about.

so my Ignition switch was taken apart and the switch was exposed to where you didnt need the key to start the car. simply just had to turn the white plastic slotted piece to start it. was waiting for the new ignition switch/cylinder to come in the mail. well leaving work one morning, I accidentally pushed the back of the white plastic piece against the metal frame that is right underneath the steering wheel while starting the car and it shorted out. as a result, the 40amp fuse in the fuse box that's under the hood blew. so I replaced the fuse and installed the new ignition switch/lock cylinder assembly.

well now when I try to start the car....

- fuel pump doesnt prime

- electric door locks not working

-radio and AC doesnt power on

-head lights not turning on with car on or off

- blinkers and hazards work
  • && yes I double checked that I bought the right ignition switch for my car. lol

and of course when trying to start car, it just cranks. no turnover.

here is what I have checked out already.
  • all fuses under dash and hood have checked good (7.5a, 10a, 15a, 20a) not sure if I checked the black box relays correctly tho
  • battery is new and holding 12.5volts.
  • I even threw in a new Main Relay under the glove box just to eliminate that. (I performed the test from this link to check the relay before and after replacing it. and it failed test #1 and #6 with the old and new relay)

  • getting 12v to the starter and alternator
  • the car had an aftermarket alarm on it but I took that out awhile back since it was draining my battery out. left the wires in tho so since this problem occured I went ahead and removed all the wires that went to it to make sure that wasnt an issue.
  • I even opened up the ecu to see if I seen any burn marks on the board itself. nothing there.
  • the fuse box under the hood smelled a lil burnt so I removed it to check the body. didnt see any burn marks on the wires on the bottom of it. nothing but nasty *** grease lol.
  • battery cables are brand new
  • check ground wires. those all seem good as well.

Did this get resolved? I'd be interested to hear as i'm thinking of switching to a push button start as my ignition switch is giving me grief.

yes actually. There is a brown relay in the fuse box that was blown. It is the brown box looking piece that the 40a and 80a get screwed down to. The connector is on the bottom side of the fuse box in the engine bay. Changed that and ignition worked. There is a test you can do with a multimeter to see if it is blown via the connector. I forgot what that relay is called but once I looked at a schematic, it was pretty apparent that was my issue.
