SOLVED: Old battery could not handle load of starting the vehicle. I have never experienced a dead battery that acted like the one in this car. New OEM battery and the car fired right up.

I apologize for the extreme noob post but life has been extremely busy.

TL;DR

• Replaced catback exhaust system, went to check for leaks
• Would crank/not start, diag’d no-spark condition
• Replaced ignitor and coil
• Car cranks and sounds like it is “dying” Crank gets weaker and weaker even with battery charger hooked up
• Checked trans/chassis and thermostat grounds
• Battery has 12.2V while hooked up to battery tender and is date coded 2017
• Hear rapid clicks from dash when car starts cranking, then clicks subside

 

Make sure your main relay is working, check your fuses.

does your fuel pump prime when ON(II)?

do you see a check engine light when the key is ON(II)?
Does the light come on and go away?


btw start with the SIMPLE, actually take your battery to get load tested.

Main relay is good, fuel pump primes, CEL turns on and off as usual. Cluster lights get extremely dim during cranking. I will pull the battery and go get it properly tested. Again, apologize for the noob post. Just super busy and don’t have a bunch of time to do my usual diag.

 

best idea, sounds like a bad battery to me. Sometimes they can have voltage but weak current.
