Oil Idiot Light stays on After Startup (Few secs)
Anyone else have their oil pressure idiot light stay on when starting up first time of the day? Mine stays on a second or 2 after engine starts. If i shut engine off then start it right back up the light does not stay on though.
I have a oil feed line hooked up not sure if that could make any difference in the light staying on a few seconds after startup or not.
Not sure if this could be crank bearings that are worn or maybe just oil pressure sending unit issue?

My car used to do this when the motor was on the way out. Bad rings among some other things.. Oil light stayed on after start up, would go out after 5-8 seconds.
Yes, I may do this, i think the brass fitting has an extra place for another oil line attachment. Also as far as oil pressure on start up goes my oil feed line to center cartridge probably is not helping the pressure.
If i unplug it and the light goes off is this a sign that the oil sending unit is still good?
The oil pressure switch opens at 7 psi, which should turn off the dash light. If it takes a couple seconds when the engine is stone cold and then turns out... it is possible that your oil pump is a bit weak, you have loose main bearing clearances, your oil pick-up is clogged or crushed or your oil pan is smashed flat/nearly flat to your oil pick-up.

Manual states the oil pressure switch works in 2 ways. First, it flashes following a momentary loss of oil pressure and second the light will turn on and stay on with a complete loss of oil pressure.
If these are only 2 conditions that makes it operate then I would suspect a possible bad pressure switch since a momentary loss of pressure should make it flash not just light up for 2 seconds.

It's just a Chinese knock off most likely. I'm pretty sure the glow shift is also made in China.
Quality will be questioned at $30+ and I'm willing to bet the gauge is made more poorly. It could be a hit or miss your choice! mines still work after 2 years so far so good!
