Default B18c1 vs B18c5 mpg/reliability

Was wondering if the C1 gets better mileage than the C5, online it says the mileage is the same, just wonder if you guys have any personal experience or think you might know.
Next question is one going to be more reliable than the other? I know the B18's are super reliable just wondering if one has an edge on the other. I dont plan on having a turbo just bolt ons like a header, exhaust, C-A-I, maybe TBS or larger throttle body, just to keep it breathing good not for big gains.
If I go the C1 route, could i put type R rods into it to change the compression to gain some more power? or would that cause problems? also could I put in a camshaft that makes vtec hit harder but stays the same for dd (when not using vtec)
Lastly i assume with a 4-2-1 header, 2.25-2.5" exhaust, cat delete, Cold Air Intake, and larger throttle body I will gain roughly 10hp and 5ft-lbs of torque, does that sound accurate? im hoping I could get that closer to 15-20 more hp 10-15 ft-lbs of torque but Ive heard thats unrealistic. I care about gaining tq more than hp because I drive in low-mid rpms when im dd which is 80+% of the time.
Thank you all

If I go the C1 route, could i put type R rods into it to change the compression to gain some more power? Yes, assuming you meant to say pistons and not rods.
or would that cause problems? Not if things are installed correctly

If you select good bolt-ons and get a proper tune (which since you're hyper-concerned with reliability and MPG, this will be required) then you'll gain more than 10WHP. Well selected parts will make more power through the entire RPM band.

Neither C1 or C5 are necessarily more reliable than one another. The C5 obviously comes with more of a performance buff OEM, better bolt ons, slightly higher compression, etc. Both engines are very expensive these days, especially the C5. Also as a note, larger throttle bodies typically make more power up top rather than down low, but if you're properly tuned and have other supporting bolt-ons it's unlikely you'd lose much if any power down low.
