(EG3) Water Leak from Ventilation under the driver-side tail light
Hello, this is my first post on this forum. I am sorry if it is in the wrong thread. I've been scowering this forum and others for a solution but couldn't find anything which would relate to my problem.
As the title says I have water in the Trunk of my EG3. Here are the bullet points.
As the title says I have water in the Trunk of my EG3. Here are the bullet points.
- I have already replaced the tail light gaskets
- The water enters form the edges of a small black box which I think is an air vent for the trunk. It sits below the diver side tail light. I couldn't find it in any schematics in the workshop manuals nor in the honda parts catalogs.
- The car was in a small accident where it got rear ended. (previous owner) There is small panelgap between the bumper and the tail light
- I am yet to take off the rear bumper since I'll have to drill some rusted screws and haven't gotten any replacement screws yet.
- I can't send a picture of the part yet.
So, today after some more digging I found the cause for the water leak.
I did the following in order to acces the "air vent" as I called it:

- Aftter removing the bumper I cleaned up all the mess and took out the "Air Outlet Assy" (75450-SR3-0000)
- In order to do that I had to squeeze both plastic grommets/clips and just pulled it out.
This is how the air outlet looks from the outside. The white parts are the clips.
This is the air outlet from the inside. In order to access it I had to remove the whole rear quarter panel form the driver side.
This is the partnumber and the esignation of this thing.

- After inspecting and cleaning the part I saw that the gasket was all messed up
- I'll try to go the same route as with the tail light gaskets and fab up a new gasket from some foam subber

So did you solve your issue? I had a similar problem back in the day in my sedan. I just rtv-ed it. I was never gonna take it back out so theres no reason for me not to secure it. One bright side is that I wouldnt have to worry about it again.
