How many whp needed to drop a whole second in 1/4 mile?
I know it may be a stupid question, but just a rough guess-timate; how many horsepower to the wheels are needed usually to drop you 1 second off your 1/4 mile time? Like in general for instance if u got 200whp (made up #) and whatever your time maybe, you want to drop another second, how much hp would you need?
Its different the faster you get. Like if you had 200 and went to 300hp, you would drop a lot off. If your at say 550 and went to 650, it would not be as much.
Depends on weight of car and, with ET's, it depends a hell of a lot on traction!!!

It's a lot more accurate to calculate mph increases due to hp than it is to calculate ET improvement.

no 1 answer for this question, basically you get over a certain torque number that can get the weight of you and your car pulled really good at the 60' will help a great deal.
the bottom line is the trap speed, the higher it gets the more potential for lower e/t's figthing traction of course.

i don't know how to give an exact answer but i'll try this out. I first had a sohc vtec w/greddy turbo kit and and automatic in a 00 civic coupe. I'm guesstimating maybe 170hp at 8psi. Ran a best of 14.9@95. Now i have a built gsr, t4 turbo, and 13psi on race gas pushing close to 400hp and ran a 11.5 with ecu problems.
