i got a 1992 honda civic dx and it will crank but not start. when i jump it, it struggles to start for about 10-15 seconds then starts and runs really rough for a couple minutes. any suggestions? just bought a new battery for it and still having the same problem.

 

see if it fires up with starting fluid. if so, change fuel pump and clean injectors.

 

would a new fuel pump relay help? saw some posts before making my own. fuel pump isnt priming, and the relay doesnt click like it should when its done priming. i have a new one on the way. also just installed a new fuel pump.

 

yes, if relay isn't clicking change it. but FIRST squirt some starting fluid in the throttle body and see if it fires up then stops running. that means NO FUEL. could be relay, could be pump could be injectors.

 

I had this same issue. Main relay for me. Troubleshoot using service manual before proceeding though. Do you hear the relay click when car turns on? Does fuel pump prime?
