So I Picked up a 1994 Del Slow Si for my son to take to college.... it was sitting for 8 years....we replaced everything (Basic) starter, dizzy, fuel pump, main relay, changed injectors, radiator spark plugs/wires... the list goes on and on... car started... had issues starting but started... would sound like a lawnmower... would die if we would let go of gas pedal... eventually after holding the gas pedal... it would sound like something would clear up and idle would be perfect... My son drove it one full day and the next day it wouldnt start and hasnt started since.... the car even passed state inspection! lol ...fuel pump engages and motor cranks but doesnt turn over (it sounds like it wants it bad)... any suggestions? was thinking bad ecu... but not sure... check engine is throwing out oxygen sensor... any other leads? fuel pressure regulator?

I dont know.... im out of ideas.

 

did you even bother to siphon out the old gas in the tank??

 

yep, took the old gas out before adding new gas

 

Do you have a CEL/MIL on ??? If so, have you checked the codes ? That information will help US help YOU.

 

it just throws out a 41… no other code flashes lol

 

Another thing, when cranking, intake will pop hard, like a gunshot loud…tried starter fluid and did not make a difference, however on the pop, the intake lit on fire haha… no damage…

 

squirt some starting fluid into the intake and see if you can get it to pop. if so you're not getting gas. check injectors.. my car blew the fuel pump hose that attaches to the nipple of the fuel pump. it got progressively worse until no start, like your situation. replace it with high pressure hose.

If that isn't the problem check your computer board for burned-out components.

replace your ignitor. easy to do.

 

did you check engine timing? did you do a compression test?
