1995 Accord Radiator fan starts up after shutting off engine
Greetings to everyone.
My mother who lives in Puerto Rico decided to give me her 1995 Honda Accord LX with 47,052 miles and in pristine condition. My wife went to visit (we live in Texas) mom and she handled the procedure to have the car taken to the port for shipment to Texas and my wife noticed that the engine cooling fan would start to run after shutting off the engine.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to where and what I should start to check to find out why this is happening?
Regards,
Mark

There may be a problem with the fan relay, there are videos on how to test it, also you could test the plug at the ECT sensor to make sure it's not receiving power after ignition is switched off.
Check the rad fluid level too.
Does the fan turn off after a few min or is it on constant with having to disconnect the plug to the fan to get it to stop?

The car will arrive to Texas in about two weeks, so once it gets here, I will dig deeper into this to see what I find.
Is the ECT sensor the one located below the distributor?
I did have a few maintenance items serviced on the car before having it driven to the port since it had been stored for such a long time and these included:
engine oil change
coolant change (I will bleed the system when car arrives to see if there might be trapped air)
spark plugs
fuel filter
PCV valve

From an old thread:
"at least 90-02 4 cylinder Accords have two fan switches. So it is normal for the fan to run even after the car is turned off. As long as your temp gauge is good and you're not low on coolant I wouldn't worry about it."

I've heard about other manufacturers having this sort of feature, and read about others doing the same with this same make/model now. With the car being such in supposedly excellent cond. and just like last mentioned ^^ most likely nothing you worry about. Just check fluid level/ system bleed when you get the car like what your intending to do..
You'd think the mother would've noticed problem with the battery constantly getting drained from the fan if it were not to shut off on its own eventually.

Since the car was stored away / unused for numerous years, my mom did not experience hearing the fan switch on since it was completely dormant for such a long time. She just had a new battery installed to revive the vehicle and get it up and running once again.
One thing I would recommend doing when you get the car is to get your brake fluid changed since it's been sitting for so long and probably has never been done.
