01 Accord DX ECU swap with EX ECU
Hello everyone,
Long story short, I was facing a CEL that was showing no codes when I ran a OBD reader. All research pointed to a bad ECM/PCM. I pulled my ECM for identification purposes and discovered engine oil had leaked into the blue connector, no idea how that was even possible. Car still ran fine with oil in the PCM port.
figuring my PCM is partially damaged and my blue connector is unrepairable with oil inside the connector pin ports, I decided to go to my local junk yard for a replacement ECU and blue connector. eBay search is getting too expensive, don’t want to buy an entire harness when I just need the blue connector.
my questions is… junk yard vehicle is an EX model, Would the ECM out of the EX be compatible with my DX? Only difference I’ve seen on specs is the DX is nonVTEC and the EX Is VTEC. Is that a deal breaker?
Thank you in advance.
