2001 civic won’t start after changing crankshaft position sensor
I changed CPS a while ago. Right after the change, the car would start but with code p0336. I also needed to step on gas a little bit for a few seconds for the idle to be stable. Then I could drive the car normally.
I thought maybe the sensor I was using was cheap but no good so I got a more expensive one. Well, after new sensor was installed, the car wouldn’t start. I stepped on gas when starting the car. The idle speed would rev up but then drop to zero. Unburnt gas smell was very strong. While if I disconnect the sensor, the car would start but run with code p0335.
So I blamed the sensor again and returned the sensor. I paid even more to get a Denso CPS(which is OE by designated by Honda). Unfortunately same thing happened. It behaved exactly as the second sensor.
Obviously the sensor is not the one to blame. What could be it? I am puzzled. Please help!
