Default Wagon Rear Hatch lock

1995 Wagon EX with the Auto trans.

So Ive decided to replace all the locks on my wagon. I picked up the whole new key shebang for what appears to be a Sedan (its got a few I dont need). My question is about the trunk lock. I havent pulled apart the tailgate of my wagon yet to replace all of it, but it appears to have the same basic design as the sedan. If I pull the wagon's plastic pieces off the rear of the lock cylinder tube, will they slide onto the sedan's lock cylinder tube and function appropriately. Conversely, how hard is it to pull the cylinders out of the lock tube and just swap the new cylinder into the old wagon's lock tube? I havent been able to find a youtube video or mention in a FSM anywhere that indicates the process of doing so.

I haven't tested the fitment of a sedan keyhole in a CE1, but it depends on the part numbers really, and there's always taking the locks to a locksmith, and have him key the CE1 lock to the sedan key

CE1 lock: 74821-SV5-A01
CD5 (sedan/coupe): 74861-SS0-003

and if i have learnt anything from trolling around these forums if the numbers don't match it most likely will not work, but i will sit here and egg you on as i am curious as well, as a mutual CE1 owner to another

key cylinder kit

I haven't done anything yet. But so far the sedan lock is just a mechanical lock. The wagon lock is an electrical switch. I am pretty sure the cap comes off on both because the pictures look fairly close and I can just trade internal cylinders. I just have no idea how to release that cap

When my old wagon was totaled I switched all the locks from the wagon into my current sedan. I had a locksmith transfer the internals of the wagon trunk lock into the sedan one and it works just fine.

well yes because the only different thing is the exterior, the interior of every lock is pretty much the same, especially for different car chassis models, all to keep costs down
