No Spark Civic ESI 94'
Hi guys, I wonder if someone can help me if ive missed anything.
Ive got a Civic ESI 1,6 1994
it occationally DOES start. but most of the time it doesnt. my only indicator when the car will start is when somehow the TAIL LIGHTS turn on when i flip the switch. if they dont there is no spark and the car wont start.
What ive done: checked and replaced: Distributor set, igniter, coil, plug wires, ecu pgmfi relay/box, key assembly, new battery and fuse. I did check and clean the sockets.
as said it does run. but only when somehow the tail lights turn on(light switch OFF btw)
and once it doesnt spark anymore, i remove the battery, ecu and pgmfi unit, leave it for 15min, then on the next try itll start again.
And the Distributor gets hot by only having the keys turned on.
do these have something like an anti theft? or anything similar? preventing it to spark?
what is the YELLOWGREEN supposed to signalize? 5v?
ive reviewed a couple of threads in regards to no spark but none which gave me a hint of anything else to check
thanks have a good day

I'm curious.. I recently had a problem that was the opposite, tail lights were on but light switch stock was turned off and the car would only crank but not fire up. Mines a crx manual. The brake pedal has a plastic plug that crumbled and was not pressing in the switch that is connected at the top of the pedal assembly. Jb welded a piece of plastic in place to press in the switch and it fired up. Is yours an auto? Maybe your switch is not being completely released with it thinking your not pressing on the brake to start it and it's just cranking but not starting..? Wouldn't hurt to give that a look., try pressing in your brake and seeing if the tail lights come on with your switch off, if they don't then there ya go!
Maxcapacity, why on earth would you glue in a piece of plastic when you can simply purchase a replacement switch pad from any Honda dealership Parts department for less than $5. The part number is 46505-SA5-000. I get that you needed a "quick fix", but that should be a 6mm bolt and a nut through the brake pedal hole to work temporarily until your new switch pad arrives... and that bolt comes out just as easily as it went in.

Made it to the show!

Thanks for all the ideas, really apprecciated. Unfortunately I havent solved the issue event with the new switch on the brake pedal. at some point I did have spark. then I called it a day and when I retured to assemble everything. Tada no spark again.
so hard to find anything for this car without knowing how to properly identify the model
cheers
