2012 Hybrid Blowing Inverter Transistors
Like the title says, my 2012 Civic Hybrid keeps blowing a transistor in the inverter. The car has 207,000mi so there is no chance of them fixing under warranty. It usually happens when I come to an easy stop. I've replaced the transistor 2 times now and I'm down to my last one. Is there anything else I should look into? I really don't want to get rid of this car, there isn't anything else wrong with it. I get 45-47mpg and have gotten 53mpg (when I try) with the price of gas nowadays, that is a huge plus. The junkyards are really proud of their parts charge almost the same as a new one. I could buy an inverter from Honda, but they will not warranty the part unless it's installed by a dealer. This car seems to be a mystery no one seems to know much about it. Most of the info I do find are for the previous generation.
HELP!!!
HELP!!!
I've reached out to him (I have a CR-Z also) he says it's a bad design. That's about it, maybe I'll ask again for clarification. Just contacted a company about replacing the entire IPU, they wouldn't guarantee it will fix the problem, but it does have a warranty. $2100 is just a hard pill to swallow.
