Greetings, - Galen here. 'Long time listener, first time caller.
We are now the second owners and custodians of my Brother-In-Law's, purchased new in '77, Civic 1200 standard hatchback we named "Lil' Buddy".
Beginning in '77, the Civic went from treasured first new car purchase, to couple's second vehicle, to the third vehicle under the car cover... The BIL however continued to treasure and maintain the little darling and by the early '90s, began prepping it for Auto-X, as one does.
Other than the '80-'81 13" Accord wheels (I have the original 12"ers w/new rubber), it looks perfectly stock. Under the skin however, is a ported/polished head, Weber, performance header (need to find a replacement...), electronic ign., tach and fuel/temp cluster from the 5-speed(?), sway bars, gas shocks, and...wait for it...a Kraco am/fm cassette deck [...insert: wild applause...]!
However, later in the '2000s, 'Lil Buddy was once again put on the inactive list under the cover. Although never turning a wheel in anger on the track, it remained in-situ until last Fall and the "resurrection".
We now regularly find ourselves making lame excuses just to go for a drive!! It is sooooo much fun! Everyone time we go out for a tootle, we get more smiles from passersbys than miles covered. 'Lil Buddy
