Brand new starter spinning, not engaging flywheel
I have a 2015 Honda Accord Sport Manual transmission and I just replaced my old starter because it had gone out on me. The new starter is spinning, but it will not engage the flywheel. I bought a cheaper starter off Amazon. Not sure what the problem is, at first was thinking the solenoid starter was bad, but as far as I can tell, this car doesn't have one. Then I started thinking it could be the crankshaft sensor, but I have not had any check engine lights on. Now I'm starting to think I just got a faulty starter.
Does anyone have an experience similar to this? If so, what was the issue and solution? Do M/T and A/T have different starters? The new one looked exactly like the old one. Any advice will be much appreciated.
