1995 Del Sol Si- No Fire (Primes, Cranks but will not start)
Hey everyone!
Got stuck in Southaven, MS with a no start. I haven’t had an issue since replacing my starter, but after driving in the 110 degree heat it refused to start.
-I did come back at 2 a.m. to try and start it; it now fires a little bit, but not enough to fire the motor up to idle.
Thus Far,
Priming and Cranking (firing but not enough)
12.8 charge in the Battery before ign.
new spark plugs
new (to me) ECU and Main Relay
~8-9,500mi on Fuel Filter and Fuel Pump
(the one unknown is injectors honestly)

Seems to me like it’s a fuel delivery issue so i need to check fuel pressure. I’ve heard pumps don’t want to work sometimes when it gets hot, but it was significantly cooler when i came back later.
edit:
ALWAYS and i mean always it has trouble starting for a few seconds after driving for a while/driving 25 min and fueling up. went in to get gas this time-didn’t fire back up.

4 things I would check are the coil inside the distributor, test it with a multimeter then the cursed main relay. (Test it if was replaced with a used one) open it, take a pic of the soldered points then zoom in and look for fine ring cracks around the connections. They are easy to re-solder. Those 2 culprits have a tendency to have a no start when they get warm.
OEM Honda fuel pumps usually never go bad so I would have doubts with it being the problem. But, you never know.
One last thing could possibly be is the icm in the distributor, pretty much all d series and b series are interchangeable, they may have a different part number but all bolt in the same and work the same. You can put a b series ignitor in a d series motor vise versa..
Lastly, check to make sure your battery terminals are clean and tight and the grounds are good - not corroded or dirty on contact points. Check the ground from the harness on your thermostat housing too.

Should I go ahead and check the relay even though it’s priming and seems to be working properly?
Now the dizzy, my original z6 dizzy went out so we replaced it with an aftermarket one, but had to do some work on it to get the timing right. If fuel isn’t the problem i’ll check the ICM and Ign. Coil.
My grounds are looking fine.. i think? coolant on the ground near trans. so i’ll make sure to go back and clean those off along with the terminals.
Should i go ahead and perform a pressure test?
ALSO!! The ECU read a code 6, i replaced the ICT, reset the ECU and now the CEL is just stuck on.
Best,
VE

At this point,
I have a fuel pressure tester and will be hitting the fuel filter with it later to determine how much fuel i’m getting from the main relay priming and then during ignition.
I sort of think the main relay and the ecu are working properly, getting fuel to prime the injectors, but the fuel pump is not sending anymore gas past the initial prime and crank.
It will turn over, and even ignite for maybe one second, but it refuses to start. Also, there’s no sign of fuel when pumping the throttle during ignition…
Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, and Plug Wires were changed at the same time maybe a year and a half ago. ( I did not clean the fuel tank before installing it, but it did not show too many red flags)
Went ahead and checked plug wires on 2000kOhm
1: 006 2: 008 3: 008 4. 008
[Still Priming, Reading a (0) Code when Jumping ECU, Cranking, Producing Ignition first couple of seconds, Cleaned my grounds]
Any help is GREATLY appreciated,
Best,
VE
