Default 96 civic overheating after fuse swap

96 Civic here with 203,xxx miles.. since last summer I noticed my cars AC would only blow somewhat cold in highway speeds. Today I noticed that only my condenser fan(driver side) would switch on when the car turned on.. and even with the AC switched on the cooling fan(passenger side) wouldn’t kick on. I thought that was strange since I’ve experienced zero overheating issues and I live in Arizona.

So I went to my fuse box and swapped the cooling and condenser fan fuses to see if that resulted in any change. To my surprise the cooling fan started working and eventually the ac fan turned on after turning on the AC. I thought hey that fixed the issue. So I decided to take a quick drive to auto zone to replace fuses just to ensure one of the fuses wasn’t bad.. halfway to auto zone(5 minute drive) my temperature gauge start’s shooting up nearly 4/5 of the way up.. I turn off my ac and switch on the heater and baby my way to the Zone. Get new fuses and swap them in the parking lot..

all is good on the drive home until I pull in and my thermostat gauge starts shooting up again.. check to see if both fans are working and they both are..

im so confused!? I even swapped back the old fuses to how it originally was before changing any fuses and I’m still getting the same response..
could this be a false thermostat reading?

make sure you're not leaking coolant
