I have a stock 1990 Honda CRX HF that I have been trying to pass emissions. It is running rich and runs like crap. It did have a CEL for an EGR so I thought I would start there. I bought a new EGR Valve and a Vacuum Control Box. It still bogs down when driving and is having a misfire. I believe it is having issues with spark. The spark is weak and when I use a timing light, the light cuts out when revved up. I installed a whole new distributor, spark plugs, and wires. Still did not fix the problem. I noticed I had a small fuel leak from one of the fuel injectors so I replaced all the gaskets for the injectors. While I had them out I tested the injectors and all have a great spray pattern. My battery has 14 volts when running so the alternator is working. I have installed a new O2 sensor, cleaned the IACV, plugs are gapped to OEM specs, fresh oil change, new fuel filter, cleaned all the ground wires, I cannot find any bad wiring or vacuum leaks. I did a compression test and all cylinders have good compression. I checked the timing, but with the misfire I do not believe it is accurate. I tested the TPS and it is working how it should. I have ran out of ideas and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just went through diagnostic hell to fix a code 8 (tdc) the sensor in the dizzy was bad. So I bought a new dizzy and didn’t work so went to hell and back to find that the new dizzy was bad. After 2 new distributors from garbagezone and and a used one I bought a remanufactured one from Rock Auto and then my car started right up.
