I just totaled one of my dream cars, the Honda s2000.
I was leaving a house party at night. There were minimal cars on the road and on the highway. The house was right next to the on ramp of the highway. I’m alone in the car but feel awesome driving this car. I decide that I’m going to try to Tokyo drift my baby onto the highway and be a badass in my head. I’m coming up to the circular on ramp and hold a steady speed as I start going in. Bam! I floor it and get that thing sideways. Next thing I know, the car slides too much for me to save. It’s slides out of the ramp, onto the highway, across three lanes and hits the concrete barrier that divides the two highway directions.
I’m able to turn the car on after two tries but when I try to pull forward, I hear grinding in the back. The back end of the car is what hit the barrier so the axels and differential was messed up. My friend hear this because his house was right there and ran all the way across the overpass, down the hill and across the highway to give me a cup of Listerine. I have no idea why… The cops came, everything was good and we got a tow truck to bring the car to the Honda dealership in Lompoc. Imagine the sadness of all the Honda employees felt when they came outside in the morning to see this car. I had gone to that dealership for parts in it and they wanted to buy it from me.
In the future, when I hear young people telling me they know what they are doing, inside my head, I’ll be feeling sorry for them. Kids destroy S2000s. I was a kid. I destroyed my S2000.
I got an insurance check for more than I paid for that car. I decided that I need to have cash in hand when I find my next car. In my rental, my friend and I go down south to my nearest branch to withdraw cash. I don’t remember if I had another car in mind at that time. All I remember was seeing my next car in the parking lot of AutoZone and my friend telling me that it was one of our other friend’s newest purchases.
2000 Honda Civic Si (EM1).
This was our friend’s newest car. With cash in hand, it was about to be my newest car. Money makes me laugh… Anyways. I start to get that feeling of urgency that I usually get when I really really want something and I have to get it before anyone else gets it! I drive all the way down to Port Hueneme, get the cash, and shoot straight home. I text my friend to show me the car so we meet at his brother’s house. I’ve never been a civic guy because so many people had them and so many versions of it have already been done. At that time I saw it as played out. They also had a bad reputation in my point of view because it was an affordable project car that kids did dumb stuff to so now I would be associating myself with that crowd.
I think what got me was the opportunity to set myself apart in such a saturated niche of project cars. I wanted to accomplish the creation of a quality project car on a platform known by the community as a trashy, low budget chassis. I offered my friend $5,000 in cash. I knew it was more than he paid because of his hesitation to say no. Little did I know, some other friends already offered him cash too. Here’s the thing about money. Yeah money is cool and all but have you wanted something to bad that price is only a tool you used to get what you want.
I didn’t care that I was paying more than what he bought it for. I didn’t care I was paying more than his friends offered. I didn’t care that I could have bought another civic for less and made it just as night. I only cared that I had the right tool, at the right time, to get exactly what I wanted.

A little over one year later, I meet this girl. She’s the ex-girlfriend of one of the guys that also offered my friend money for this Civic. She’s my wife now. I also raced their supercharged D-series CRX in my S2000 and won. Now I got the car they wanted.
Tiffany sounds like a hot girl name. This Civic was my Tiffany.
Her first form during my ownership.
The second form: Fresh Paint, RPF1 Deep Dish Replicas, Mexi-flush, still cute doe!
"My life be like, ooh, aah..." One of the first videos I made of this car, ever.

On my way to my first car show.
Pics before she funded my move to Colorado. I sold her for $4000 in 2016. Salvaged Title
Must have done something pretty slick to total your car drunk on the highway and still get a juicy insurance check.
No idea how you wiggled that. Dope Nicki Minaj quote by the way bro, super dank.
California money carries idiots way too far.
Even in California, if arrested for DUI, they usually are looking at some monetary loss and possible jail time. OP may have not gotten arrested for DUI.
