2012 Pilot - broken timing belt
Hey all,
Brand new to the forum. My family owns a 2012 Pilot EX-L with about 130k miles on it.
Jan 2020 I had a timing service performed at a local Honda specialist (not the dealer). At the time of service it was at around 101k miles.
Unfortunately, while driving to work yesterday the engine shut down. After diagnosis, it has been determined that the timing belt has broke.
I’m looking for any and all advice you fine folks can offer. For example, I’ve read that during a timing belt service that the idler pulley and bolt should be replaced. Further, I’ve read that the bolt is a one time use.
What else should I be considering? I’m planning to call the mechanic tomorrow but I fear they will deny wrong doing…especially since it has been more than 2 years and 30k miles since the service.
Should I be looking out for anything specific?
