Burning Oil! - B16A
Hello friends !
I am fresh to the forum and relatively fresh to Honda's, so im after some advice/thoughts.
I recently swapped my D16y4 out of my 1999 Ek hatch for a Japspec B16A. The swap was fairly straightforward, i struggled the most with actually getting the engine out as i didnt have a hoist.
Once swapped, I had some work done, valve stem seals, basemapped hondata s300 ECU, timing belt changed and timing adjusted, rocker cover and spark plug seals replaced, and a couple other small touchups to wiring and heater/cooler hoses tightened.
My questions is, i am burning a fair amount of oil, and the car seems to be running rich with the basemap, i had a comp and leakdown test with the following results:
Cyl 1 - 215
Cyl 2 - 215
Cyl 3 - 220
Cyl 4 - 220
Leakdown: Good
Ive also noticed a fair amount of fuel in the oil, i switched to a higher viscosity oil, 5w40 to see if that made a difference and it didnt really seem to.
In your opinions would this seem to be a oil comp ring issue ? the car idles well and runs OK, noting the results above im not sure if it would be rings or potentially something else ?
Thanks !

They all burn oil to a extent, as long as your not leaving a trail of blue smoke when driving or in vtec your not in bad shape, the comp numbers look good.
Keep your eye on the oil level daily,
Add a catch can to help the fuel dilution in the oil,
You can add a can of Engine restore 4 cylinder formula this helps with oil consumption. Try it on the next oil change.
You need to get a real tune! find a tuner and have it dyno tuned, who knows what base map you have thats most likely why its running rich.
Also get a AFR gauge installed so that you can monitor the air fuel ratio in real time. I like the Innovate MTXL! also get it wired to the ECU/Hondata.
